Pearson 35 1980 $18K Florida
Today's Noteworthy Find!
1980 Pearson 35
Location: Key Largo Florida
Asking Price = $18,000
What makes this noteworthy, in my opinion?
1. Condition!
After looking at thousands of boats of this era, this boat stands out (in the listing photos) as appearing in outstanding condition. Of course you will have to see the boat for yourself and have a survey done to truly assess condition, and photos can be misleading, but based on what is shown in the photos, I think this boat looks outstanding at this price point.
If I were looking for a "Keys and Bahamas" cruiser at low asking price, this would be a boat to look at asap.
2. Florida and Bahamas design considerations:
A. Shallow draft with centerboard (min draft only 3'9")
B. Bimini and Dodger Canvas
C. 100 Gallon water tank
D. Wind generator
Other points to notice:
Adler/Barbour Refrig
Roller Furling Jib
Dripless shaft
Freshwater cooled Universal Diesel
H/C water and Shower
Shower on deck
Lewmar 44ST winches
Double anchor rollers
More details and more photos at the listing itself:

Re: Boats Less Than $30K Recent Noteworthy Finds
Pearson 35 (1969)
I just saw a new listing (October 20 2016) for another Pearson 35 (1969) that is about the same price ($18K) and also looks to be in VERY nice condition and with recent upgrades. When viewing the online photos I was struck by how CLEAN the interior and engine space appears. Very clean engine area. (It is an Atomic 4 in this boat.). The exterior photos show the hull design nicely so I will post those here too. Nice looking boat! Well kept. Note that this boat comes with LOTS of stuff, many newer sails, and newer electronics and all the boat goodies (small stuff).
If someone is looking for a nice boat for under $20K that is ready to sail, this looks like a good match to me.

Catalina 38
Year 1982
Draft = 4' 11"
Asking Price = $19,500
NOTES: The Catalina 38 is a Sparkman & Stephens design and is recognizable from the pronounced tumblehome of the hull (see photo from stern). The hull design bears influence of the IOR racing rules.

Thanks for pointing that out.
I missed that earlier. I now see it is noted on the sale listing but under "Electrical" and NOT posted on the front page general description NOR under the Engine section. So I missed it and I suspect others will too. The broker SHOULD have made that clear and visible on the front page description and in the Engine section. I am glad you caught it.
Unfortunately I cannot go back now to edit my post of that boat, or I would make that VERY visible.
But, the post of that boat will remain to show the photos of that type of boat, which is the real purpose of this thread (to ILLUSTRATE different Shallow Draft boats and what they look like and typical features etc.).

Re: Boats Less Than $30K Recent Noteworthy Finds
Steady - thanks for starting and restarting this thread. It and the other thread on skinny water boats are bracketing nicely the categories of boats I'm currently thinking about. I've made a decent living moving boats in blue water, but my wife gets seasick, and we both like gunkholing. Even live in Florida.
Which leads me to ask, do you know if the Beachcomber 25 is still available? Link leads nowhere as of today.
Thanks,
Jack
