Re: Boats Less Than $30K Recent Noteworthy Finds
Started looking in January as I saved up money. When I got to the point where I could look serioiusly to make a purchase happen nothing in that "cheap" range was available. Just as I was telling myself to be more patient that it could take a while, this Cabot 36 showed up for $10k at the first of June. Motored it across town and it's getting set up to move onto in Sept. There is a lot of work, mostly cosmetic and to get all the systems set up the way I want but the "core" of the boat is good. I've done some minor work on the cosmetics (cleaned up the teak, hooked up a BBQ, scrubbed things down) and cleaned up the insides. Getting ready to map out and rework the 12v system next.

Re: Boats Less Than $30K Recent Noteworthy Finds
Awesome thread! I found this article online that is quite helpful:
Mahina Expeditions - Selecting A Boat for Offshore Cruising
My dream affordable cruising live aboard boat would be under 40' with ability to single hand sail easily and have decent autopilot/windvane, low time diesel engine in good shape, no blisters or hull damage, fiberglass hull, 1-2 berths for sleeping, decent galley with stove/oven, and self tacking, roller furl jib/main.
Of course if I had serious cash for a used boat, something lux like an Oyster or Hallberg-Rassy would be sweet.

That Skookum sure is a LOT of boat. I wonder what the story is on it.

Thanks to everyone for adding to the thread.
I have been seeing some more boats to add too, and will do so in the future too.

I think you'll find that most of the older folks will say the Vanguard is one of the nicer all-around cruising boats..... not the fastest, not the roomiest... but cruisers all recognize it in any port... now I wonder why that is?

Wow quite a find and in my backyard too even! I do prefer a diesel engine but would consider gas.

Re: Boats Less Than $30K Recent Noteworthy Finds
This is something I've never saw before from Beneteau. Looks like a fair amount of room to stretch out. I'd be curious as to what method was used in those years for keel structure.
