Re: Boats Less Than $30K Recent Noteworthy Finds
F10 is there any chance you could post a clearer picture of that tiller ending? It looks like a modification I would like to make on our yacht.
Cheers

Sure, Give me a few days (maybe early next week) and I'll post some pics. The ending was added to the wood tiller. The ending is a stainless ring of about 1.5 inch diameter 316 stainless tubing. The ring is about 11 inches outside diameter. The ring is slipped over the end of the tiller. The ring tubing is welded where the tubes connect. Any good bow pulpit fabrication shop should be able to make one. Critical to have high quality tubing and welding otherwise it will corrode. Just a correction- the circle part is about 1.5 inch diameter tubing, part that slips over wood tiller is bigger- just looked at the pic, but I will get better pics and actual dimensions next week.

Awsome boat! Looks like it's doing 10 knots tied up at the dock.

South of the Mason Dixon Line. I think the Alabamans' just refer to their state as BAMA. At least that was what the bumper stickers read when I was last down south.

Yeah I'd probably change that and the name right off the bat.

What? Change the name and glass? Then it would loose that certain “Bama” attitude and character.

In Toronto. Very nice looking boat. Yanmar 3MM. Reduced. Been for sale for a while; I think this is a good buy at this price.

Have it surveyed first!
From:
https://whichsailboat.com/2014/06/30/cc-landfall-38/
'A significant design characteristic affecting the longevity of C&C Landfall 38s is the balsa cored hull. The hull of the Landfall 38, along with most C&C boats, was entirely cored with wood, even below the waterline. The wood coring is even continued around the through-hull fittings, unlike some other boats in which solid fiberglass is used around through-hulls to prevent leaks form destroying the wood core. ... Any leaks at through hulls or through the deck to hull joint could cause the structural wood core to rot, making the hull weak and likely to fail. However, other reviewers, including those cited below, indicate that there have been few problems with the cores on these boats. A thorough inspection of moisture in and delimitation of the hull should be a part of any survey before purchase.'

That one has been for sale quite a while...surely it can't just be the dubious taste of the boom painting, the lovely name, or the artwork in the head?
