I think most of us would prefer to take such a repair
to a sail loft. I had a clew block chafe through the webbing a couple months ago, and got it fixed for $200. However, mid-ocean there's no way to farm the work
out. And a repair like that can't be done with sticky tape. So you'll either have to be carrying spares of every working sail or be able to do the repair yourself.
