Best Pilothouse Sailboat?
Freedom 39 pilothouse schooner. Way ahead of its time. Easy to see over. Innovative layout. Inside steering option. Joystick otherwise. Two independent unstayed masts for safety and flexability (two spinnakers or staysails!)

The saloon is nor really raised neither the chart table. I guess it is an answer to Allures (Garcia's owner) that has been selling a lot more than OVNI. However the Allures interior design is better with a raised chart table. With the boat moving in a seaway you will have some forward view (and a very good lateral one). Not so on the new OVNI evolution.
The Allures 45 is one of the most impressive boats for the price I have seen.

Re: Best Pilothouse Sailboat?
Polux:
I have admired the earlier OVNI 43 boats (I like the lifting keel, aluminum, etc.).
I looked at the video you linked of the new OVNI 52.
I was surprised at how the space was used and the interior. Frankly speaking, I was disappointed in what I saw. The passageway forward looks VERY narrow. The saloon/salon looks….unattractive, and after looking at many other boats in that size it looks plain and below the others. In fact, I will say I think that interior looks "ugly" to me. I rarely say things like that about a boat. So, they lost my interest in that boat.
In comparison, the Yachting video review of the Allures 45 looks very nice. The interior looks "livable" and the aft workroom, galley, and settee (dinette) all look good. The forward cabin looks nice too (for a marina).
Thanks for continuing to post the links and videos and information on boats such as these.

The Allures introduced some new concepts on the world of the French centerboarders and its success is no accident. Out of any evaluation regarding the interior, they were the first French centerboarders to have an AVS similar to full keel boats (typically the OVNI AVS were on the low side).
They managed that not with a lot more ballast than what has the OVNI (that would make them slower) but with putting the ballast not on the bottom of the boat but outside the boat in a kind of short keel. They have also managed to brig the CG down making only the hull in aluminium and having a composite cored deck. They have succeeded in creating a system for bonding and join deck and hull that have worked without problems.

Check the Delphia 46CC deck salon, strong and supper functional. The other one I like are much older.

Sitting inside you are too low to see much outside so to run the boat, I would sit on the galley counter or stand.
The 29 (and 27) are fin keel sailboats, but the Gulf 32 is the full keel with a raised pilothouse that was built from 1964 to 1988 and a few are built now by another company.

Re: Best Pilothouse Sailboat?
Well, for the guys that have the money there is this one:
Yes i know that they have a smaller one but that one is ugly to my eyes. Not designed as a true bluewater expedition boat but certainly seaworthy enough for me. Two have made recently the Sydney Hobart in style and comfort and not that slow.

Re: Best Pilothouse Sailboat?
This new proposition from Regina 45 Images | Reginayachts seems a good compromise.
But is it me or does the galley seem totally out off scale on the plan.
Sink and stove seem too small.
