I also like the Hylas/Stevens boats. However, if you haven't been on a Macintosh 47, you need to... Only 16 built.

Sundeer. Everything else would be second choice for me.

Passport 42' should be on top of the list.

I'll take a Catalina 385 and spend the rest on hand made stogies, Brandy and Rum. LOL

Hi barnakiel, it seems that you and I have very similar likes in yachts!!
Dykstra/K&M/Bestevaer (Been eyeballing a few but still in the million mark)

And to all, it doesn't have to be only one, just your top choices. And what is fun, that that I've been on most of the boats mentioned in this thread!! Thanks again all for partaking in my curiosity thread!!

I wish I had that much to spend. I'd get one of the really big Beneatus. You can't beat em.

A Najad 49 rates very highly on my list.

I agree Windlove, within that price range one can now get a nice, well equiped Beneteau 57 with the bulkhead helm that I do like.. Najad are just solid well built yachts!! fully agree!!

Shannon 43 or Nautor Swan

I know where there is a Shannon 43 with bow thruster for under 250k and she doesn't take no for an answer .. sturdy as they come .

yep, my good sailing mates had a Shannon 43 and I can fully agree that it is built like a tank!! Very well laid out and they said that they can actually call Shannon and actually talk to the guy who did their wiring for debugging help.. GREAT!

Re: Best built world cruiser between 250K - 500K

I was going to start a separate post but saw this and decided to post here instead.
In my limited experience, I didn't find any boat that I have been on to have it all according to me. And I found the article below which confirms that finding the ideal boat is far from easy, unless one decides to design it from scratch.

Aventura IV

While I found this boat to meet most of my personal preferences, I would probably make some additional tweaks and yes, let's be real that there is so much one can do with 45' of boat.

So, you actually prefer a Bene 57 over a Sundeer 56 for a world cruiser?! Sounds clueless to me but you may well have compared and found reasons I didn't...
