Re: Beneteau Oceanis 40 Holding Tank Question

Thanks guys. Yes I guess it must be a vent. Because it drains very quickly when the discharge valve is opened. I guess that's why it is such a large diameter vent pipe. I also have not noticed the vent location on the outside of the boat.

Re: Beneteau Oceanis 40 Holding Tank Question

In all liklihood, that's your overboard discharge. It should lead to a thru-hull.

Re: Beneteau Oceanis 40 Holding Tank Question

In your owner's manual there is a diagram of the holding tank plumbing that should help you sort it out. Sound like you are describing the vent hose that goes from the top of the tank to the Y valve. Good luck.

Re: Beneteau Oceanis 40 Holding Tank Question

You will have an outlet pipe from the bottom of the tank ( discharge ) - a second into the tank from the toilet - a third which is an overflow from the tank - a fourth from the deck fitting down into the tank ,which is there to enable you to pump out your tank from a shore side facility . This pipe obviously reaches almost to the bottom of the h/ tank and when the crust build up occurs , it almost blocks the main discharge outlet and causes all sorts of problems . Either shorten it or remove it all together .
