Beneteau 38.1 Matress Height

Hello all,


I've ordered a new Beneteau 38.1 and I'm trying to pre-order the bed linens. Does anyone know the height of the mattresses in the latest 38.1's?

I have a 2018 38.1

The mattress height seems to be around 3 inches.

I’ll be back on the boat this weekend and I can measure for you to be exact. But if I was you I would call the people who you ordered the boat from. Things can change!

Mines a 2017 - and I’m pretty sure stock its 4”. HOWEVER… it is barely adequate, even with a 2” topper I added. (I’m 6’/180#). At some point, I’m going to replace the mattress. I wouldn’t plan on using without adding a decent topper of 2” - 3”.

Ours is a 2020, 38.1

On the 2020 model, the mattress height is 4.5".
As Phyrcooler mention, consider a topper, like cooling memory foam or latex.
We did a 3" latex topper with cover. Queen size for the V Berth, King size for the single aft. You will need to cut the toppers to fit, as the size is not exact.
Recommend waiting and test the mattress before making any purchases.
Also if your 38.1 has the Yanmar SD25 sail drive, be on the lookout for water in the oil (seal failure). This can lead to expensive repairs later.

My experience ( not Beneteau) is that the stock mattresses are inadequate and are soon found to be uncomfortable. I'd try them out before committing more $$ to custom fitting linens. We've ended up spending $$ on good quality custom mattresses to get a good night's sleep.
Our current new to us boat came with a latex topper ... reasonably comfortable but an absolute pain to keep the bedding on ... the topper keeps moving as we slide down off the bed. The stock mattresses are not comfortable. Another custom mattress on the way. It's an island (sort of) V berth queen.

Agree with the above answers. Until you've tried the mattress, I wouldn't order custom-fitted sheets.

You can go with flat sheets initially, until you know it's a keeper.

The mattress pad on the 2018 is 4 inches in height.
