Beneteau 25.7 lift keel indicator line snapped

Hi, new to forum and not sure where to post but:

Have a Beneteau 25.7 and the line (indicator with elastic) attached to the lifting keel snapped. The boat is on a trailer at the moment but obviously not able to drop the keel without jacking up the boat! Does anybody have any idea how to replace this 'piece of string' without paying a fortune to have the boat lifted out (as it's obviously not the end of the world to do without!) Is it something one could send ones children into the water to do next season .... however we are talking the English Lake District!!!!!

You did it right..
Is it a swing keel or does it raise and lower vertically?

I got some good advice in the thread above. Also got some sarcasm, as expected, you'll have to differentiate between the two.

If it is a big hassle to repair it, could you mark the lifting cable/rope, incrementally? Go by those marks instead?

Re: Beneteau 25.7 lift keel indicator line snapped

Ohh ok... So you were looking more for how to lift the boat in order to work on the keel? I thought you had that part covered since she's already on the trailer and you were looking for info on the keel string indicator. Which I'm still not sure what that is-as I only have a keel cable on mine and that's why I asked for pictures.

I had to remove my keel so I was faced with the same dilemma of lifting the boat. What I did was lower the nose of the trailer as low as the jack would go. At this angle I was able to get cinder blocks under the stern. Once in place I raised the nose of the trailer until the stern was resting on the blocks instead of the trailer. I then placed blocks mid-ship and under the bow and lowered the trailer again. Voila, she was up on blocks...
