Any recommendations for boat surveyor in South/Central Florida?

I'm going to go look at a boat Monday. The boat is in Miami.

If I like it I'm going to put an offer and get a survey.

Any recommendations for a surveyor in Central/South Florida?

Thanks!
Richard

I don't make it a habit of suggesting anything for anybody...

but, try "Suenos Azules Marine Surveying" this guy is probably the best surveyor I've met, very knowledgeable, throrough, etc, etc...if I had to pick a marine surveyor again, it would be him.

you can look up the phone # online..he is down south, Palm Beach Gardens, but he travels to wherever he is needed.

Thank you!

Excited, approved for boat loan, insurance etc... If it looks good and inspection is good we will have our first sailboat!

There's always Dave Skolnick "Auspicious to us" be he's up in the Chesapeake Bay area. The good guys are usually booked up.

I've heard the name Dave Gunderson, but I don't know him....
marine surveyors down in south Florida are a dime a dozen...but if Suenos recommended him, that's generally a good thing!. I would trust that recommendation.
Marine surveyors are quite busy these days, but if the boat is close to where they live, they can usually squeeze it in.

Re: Any recommendations for boat surveyor in South/Central Florida?

Thanks MicHughV and everyone.

I called Dave Gunderson and it went strait to voicemail. Left detailed message and waiting for callback.

Here is the website Marine Engine Diagnostics and Mobile Marine Repair - West Palm Beach, Florida Marine Engine Diagnostics - Marine Surveying - West Palm Beach, Florida

Doesn't mention sailboats on his website. Something to worry about?

Thanks again,
Richard

I called the number Suenos Azules Marine Surveying gave me. I noticed it's the same for the website. Still haven't heard back from him. I will call again noon tomorrow if I don't hear anything by then.

Re: Any recommendations for boat surveyor in South/Central Florida?

ok, I called around, but could not locate my contacts this evening.....hope you hear back from Gunderson. Your boat broker might likely know some people....John is the best of the best....so yeah...popular guy...but then again, when would you close.. ??...if you have the time, might could make an appt with him...make your offer contingent on survey...tell the broker, soonest a survey can be done is 4 weeks....you are in control.....set the limits here with the brokers, they just want to sell the boat, that's their interest....but you, as buyer, control the purse strings....don't commit to a closing date, until the survey issue is resolved....brokers will like you to commit to an early closing..but that is your call....go see the boat first anyway.....you don't need to put an offer on the boat at this point..just go see it and then tell them you are thinking about it....in the meantime, call John, ask him for his earliest date....and plan a closing around that..
