Re: Any interest in boat search tool?
As we're just considering changing boats, your search tool sounds like a great thing to have......YES, I'd like to have it!

Sounds like an ideal app for the free software movement. Already you have some input for extensions. Publish it on GitHub and see if some folks don't contribute some extensions. I would like it.

Re: Any interest in boat search tool?
It would be good to have side by aside comparison with other boats, not not only boats but plan design as well.
Maybe also something like average of historical sale prices for the last 5 years?

Re: Any interest in boat search tool?
It sounds interesting. Especially as Craig's Pal, & a few others now no longer exist. So I'm curious to take a look.

Re: Any interest in boat search tool?
There has been some good ideas .....will it consider all types of boats? multi-hulls, mono-hulls, sail and motor etc? I like the idea aready mentioned of typical layouts etc as well. Another excellent idea that has been mentioned is price alerts when the price changes. Plenty of other good idea's as well. I would think that this would prove very popular internationally as well, and could attract advertising to fund yourself if it takes off. Could be a great business.

Over time I have built a list of boats I would be interested in purchasing if they show up for the right price and in a semi-convenient location. However, I was spending far too much on yachtworld typing in my queries one-by-one.
This app performs the queries for me once a day, collects the data, and displays it clearly and simply along with a map view of where each boat is located. I can see my queries and add/modify/delete them with a few clicks.
Before I do the work of opening it up, I wanted to see if there would be any interest in having this tool available?

Re: Any interest in boat search tool?
Seems to me that if you put in to many search attributes, you won't get very many hits. (just like a Google search) I'd be more inclined to keep it simple, like you have it laid out in your post. A side note, even if use of the app is free, it could still be profitable from advertising revenue.
