Any footage/pictures of Swanson 42 sailing?

I would love to see some footage of a swanson 42 under sail? I haven't been able to find anything, which seems odd considering how many are out there.

Can anyone help out or able to share a link?

Hiya Banjo! That photo brings back happy memories, thank you.

Sadly we launched the MPS a few months back and it promptly tore in half, just too old and too worn to be worth repairing. Have to start saving the $$$ for a new one then it's off to SVTotem to have it made.

Great photos and a fine vessel. We will keep an eye out for Swansons for sale over the next 6 months. We have a beautiful boat already, but now with a little one (9month old) on board we are suddenly short a extra cabin. There’s a lot I like about the Swanson design so it’s a good next choice for us.

So you’re in SA glow? We are sailed around from garden island to Sydney a few yeArs back and are now in yamba, Nth NSW.

Are you saying yours is high maintainence? More than most I mean.

Sure. Why not? The last deck lasted 40 years, same construction but polyester and csm not epoxy and biaxial cloth.

The next person who tells me I should use marine ply is welcome to pay for it. Then I can encapsulate some really nice ply in epoxy. [emoji846]

Probably not. It’s 40 years old so it is getting a big, steady refit from the bottom up.

I never understood the logic of using cheap plywood with the ability to shop around so easily on the internet today. I quickly found on Gumtree (our craigslist) 12mm marine ply for $50 a sheet and 12mm hardwood plywood for $35 a sheet. Thats without even asking for a discount if you purchased a large amount of plywood. So using cheap pine plywood with its knots and voids is hardly worth the hassle in my opinion.
But I have surveyed boats with pine plywood decks and some do seem to last and then other times the decks are rotten as.
I was on a nice Swanson 42 today in Tin Can Bay. The interior was well built and it really feels like a little ship when you step down below
