Another worthy cruising yacht

1996 Fraser 51 Offshore Sail Boat For Sale - www.yachtworld.com

Looks good!

Here is another... ALU... It is amazing how low the market prices are going? This one would have made my short list.

Bavaria OCEAN... a true blue water cruiser. VG value. Few built but these demonstrate the company's ability to build a serious cruiser.

Yes that Fraser is here in the PNW and I have been thinking about it.

Locally they have an excellent reputation for being very well built

I doubt this figure is correct as they are well built. They also use Kevlar in certain areas to keep weight down. I also doubt any one else's modern hull would weigh much more. I'll look later and correct myself if proven wrong... :-)

Re: Another worthy cruising yacht

READ THE POSTED LISTING FOR THE 2001 BAVARIA 51.

IT READS 14,500 - THAT'S 14,500 KILOGRAMS OR 32,000 LBS DISPLACEMENT.

NO PRODUCTION 50'S IN THIS CLASS - READ -- BAVARIA, BENETEAU, JEANNEAU ETC... ARE 14,500 POUNDS DISPLACEMENT

I found this on Sail Data: BAVARIA 47 OCEAN CC sailboat specifications and details on sailboatdata.com

Over 26,000 lbs.

I still don't like the spade rudder, though most companies have abandoned the skeg rudder awhile ago.

They all appear in need of major systems upgrades or soon to be so. "If you need to ask the price of yachting you can't afford it".

Re: Another worthy cruising yacht

The Fraser sports an 8 foot draft.
Not for the Bahamas, not for me.
Otherwise, nice boat...

The original listing said 14500 for displacement, the rest of the specs were NOT metric so I assumed the displacement was in pounds.
