Amel Sharki

Does anyone have any information relating to the sailing ablities of the 39' Amel Sharki? Will appreciate any info regarding this yacht.

No specific info on 39 ft model but have sailed alongside the 52 footers and they are conservative reasonably good boats noted to be safe and fair(not great) sailors.

The Sharki is an older Amel model but, Amels are strong, well made cruising boats and have a great reputation as blue water voyagers. their only web link is amelyachtowners : Amel Yacht Owners - Forum for owners of Amel sailboats

You should get some great info from there... eyschulman's comment about "not great" sailors is most likely due to the fact that the newer models are all push-button sailing with in-mast furling. I don't believe any in-mast sail is as efficient as they can be but it is easy! The Sharki's are slab reefing and with new sails should offer an impressive run against most comparable boats at all points of sail.

Mango Bob I believe you hit the nail on the head- I was not familiar with the sharki's non furling status.
