Aloha everyone!
I am brand new to this forum and also a new sailor! I am originally from
Hawaii but have since relocated to Los Angeles,
California. My fiancé and I have taken a handful of sailing courses starting on little Lido dinghies and working our way up to 30 ft. keelboats. The plan was to continue sailing/cruising/navigation courses through the summer however the pandemic has put a halt to that. The goal is for us to have our own
boat and take an extended trip down to
Mexico and possibly further to
South America. We are both watermen/(-women), surf, dive,
fish, etc. and are very comfortable in the ocean. Rather than sit idle, we'd like to put some time in on the
water to promote our
learning and take advantage of the beautiful southern
California coast. That being said, we are looking for a good intro sailboat, up to 30 ft., with a
budget of around $10k max. Any tips/advice on what to look for would be very much appreciated! We have been looking on Craigslist often and have come across a few possible contenders, however, it'd be nice to have some kind of a checklist of what exactly we need to be looking for.
This is one I found today. Let me know what you all think!
