Allmand 31'

Calling all experts! Looking for opinions/advice on a 1982 Allmand 31'. The seller is listing it as a 3'10" draft boat ... so you won't have to tell me that it dosen't point very well Other than that ... build quality? Sailing ability (within the exception noted above) known problems? Anyone ever own one? etc. etc.
Thanx,
Bob

The Almand is kind of the Ford or Chevy of it's time. The quality is not great but not bad either. How suitable the boat is depends on how you plan to use it. As a liveaboard it leaves much to be desired. Go below and admire all of the room then ask yourself where you will stow your belongings. Would I cross an ocean in one, probably not. Would someone else, they probably have. For daysails, weekends and local sailing in shallow water it is OK. You have already figured out some of it's sailing charastics. The big question is, how well was it maintained? This is a boat that does not do well if neglected. A thorough survey by a "qualified" surveyor will answer this question much better that this board can. The questions you would like answered are hard to do sight unseen.
