Allied Mistress Pros/Cons/Comments

Heading out next week to look at some boats. One on the list is an Allied Mistress. Anybody own one, has owned one, knows somebody who owned one? Any comments would be appreciated.

I have never been on one. The only thing I could say with any authority is that the build standard was high for that period. They cost a bit more than other comparables, and the company went out of business numerous times before it's last gasp in the mid 80's.

We met a couple sailing one in the West Indies back in 2013. I asked about their boats and they did not report any issues. The boat rolled like hell in anchorages (swell). If you look up at sailboatdata her ballast ratio is low. So you do not want to stack up stuff, I guess.

I asked about their boat because she looked very pretty with nice cruising proportions.
