Adams Nautic 40'

Hi Fellow Cruisers! Season Greetings.

I just wanted to ask if anyone has any information pertaining to my new (2nd hand 1998) purchase of an Adams Nautic 40' Steel Cutter. If anyone has any tips or information that may help me get acquainted with her, as in some type of past experience even if it is small I would love any info! Thanks in advance!

Kind Regards

Re: Adams Nautic 40'

CF Member, Sapient Sue, has a flush deck Adams 40 at Kettering. I thought it was a "Nought 40", but I may have misheard. It is grp, and I believe a number were built for the charter trade: two doubles aft, and a pullman berth forward, and the sail and line locker. Their boat has been to Alaska and back. They built a large enclosure over the stern, [which undoubtedly disturbed the wind flow] and as far as I know, they never used their wind vane much, although I could be mistaken.

We had other friends with an Adams 40, also a steel cutter. They didn't SAY anything about "Nautic".

What is the Nautic story?

Ann

The Naut 40 was built both as a flush deck and a trunk cabin model. We have personally been aboard both types.

And FWIW, there is no relationship between the Naut 40 and the more common Adams 40, often built in steel... completely different designs. Again, we have friends with Adams 40s who have circumnavigated in them.

And finally, Sapient Sue's Naut 40 circumnavigated in the hands of her original owner before Sue (and her husband) bought her.

They are both competent designs from a very good Aussie designer... but none of this helps you in your quest. I'm still not clear which design your "Nautic" is.

Re: Adams Nautic 40'

Hi Jim and Ann

Sorry for my ignorance I am only passing on the brief description the previous owners gave me in relation to Adams Nautic. It was built in steel around 1998 in Fremantle W.A by G Lawlers (prof)
Kind regards
Mapo
