Wink '85 Morgan 43 Sloop

Just came across a very nice Morgan 43' Sloop in very good condition and would appreciate any knowledgeable input from folks who have experience with this vessel. It has 5' draft (I live in Fl) and displaces 23500# with 8500# ballast.
We are looking at it as a liveaboard/ cruiser and would like info on it's bluewater capabilities. This is not an O/I version vessel. If anyone knows where more info might be available, we would appreciate it. Thanks in advance.

Bob

I've been looking at these; did you end up getting one? IF so, what do you think of it?

Just bought one in late Oct. and am still learning the systems aboard. This particular one has been very well maintained and upgraded. We've seen prices range from $49K to
$115K depending on equipment. Seems to be a solid vessel. We have only dealt with seas to 7' so far but she rides them well.

Thanks Bob

Any "common" M43 problems you learned about during your buying process? So far in my research I have hear about deck/hull joint leak problems, but it was only from 1 person so...

Actually, I was somewhat disappointed at the scarcity of information available on this particular boat. Seems that there is plenty of info on the O/I series of Morgans but little on the "classic" versions. We looked at Morgan 45s, 46 and a couple of 43s and when we saw this one in person we were pretty well sold on the boat from the start because of it's condition and equipment. We researched the brand with several knowledgeable folks in the industry who all were fairly positive about the boat with the usual caveats concerning pre-purchase surveys. If you like you can reach us at perfidia44@yahoo.com and I could send you the spec sheet on the vessel we purchased so you could have something to compare it to.

Re: '85 Morgan 43 Sloop

I purchased a 1987 43 project boat that isn't getting done. If you're interested in any parts, email me at mxsailoratgmaildotcom. Among other things, I have a complete dodger and bimini (beautifully built in dark blue), a complete mast with spreaders, winches and rigging, hatches, and a new genoa, fairly new mainsail, self tailing winches (52's), and more. I emailed Charley Morgan about the boat and he replied that he thought Nelson & Merrick designed it.

I'm parting out the boat. Bare, empty hull.
