When you think about how much those little boats can do for how little it costs to sail them... well there should be a metric for that! This is a shot of one from the Columbia site. My old 24 was trucked up to Flathead Lake and has been sailing there since '89.
Don I know you weren't insulting my slice of heaven.
Celestial. No Nick has not purchased the boat yet . I'm still waiting for his arrival.
However when we spoke I really loved the ideas he has as to what he wants to do with her. Also I'm now convinced he really needs a boat like the spencer. There are many good boats out there but I'm sure ( experience says). He really needs a very solid built vessel.

Opps...My mistake. But you do need a boat to have a sailing adventure.

I am being well compensated on this run, it pays more than my last 3 loads combined if that tells you anything!

Finally found a good one to make up some ground!

Re: 42' Spencer - possible livaboard/project boat?

It rains here more often than not. The only thing I could offer is to say that I would kill for a hard dodger like that..... did i mention its been drizzling since saturday..... I do know the marinas here auction off boats super cheap that have past due moorage balances. That may be something to check into...

I am really growing fond of that hard dodger, I think I am even going to install electric wipers on it.

I have been playing with ideas for a new canopy that will make the cockpit rather comfortable in the rain.

Re: 42' Spencer - possible livaboard/project boat?

Looking back now, it is crazy to see how far this boat and I have come since then, did so much work to her making her into what she is today.

I have to hand it to everyone who gave me the information here, she turned out to be a great boat, an incredible sailing machine that is sure footed and fast.

Since I started this thread all that time ago, I have had the occasion to sail on many other boats, and none that I have loved so much as this Spencer.

She is truly amazing and extremely well built. We just did a 3 year refit in Port Townsend, and are preparing to take off for Alaska in the spring.

It has been one heck of a ride getting here with COVID and supply chain issues, but I am so happy to have her all together.
