40-44' Center Cockpit with Fwd Pullman Berth? (other than Hunter)
Requesting some direction on what my selections might be for 1988-95 40 to 44 ft center cockpit cruiser that would have a fwd Pullman berth, not having too much luck finding that floorplan.

Re: 40-44' Center Cockpit with Fwd Pullman Berth? (other than Hunter)
There are a lot of custom Mull, & Peterson designs out there in that size range. By Pullman, what speciically do you mean/are you looking for in the berth? One which actually pulls out, or a fixed double that's entered from only one side? And why a center cockpit? Since as you're discovering, the geometry of the two don't fit well together in a boat that size.

Re: 40-44' Center Cockpit with Fwd Pullman Berth? (other than Hunter)
I realize you make your own choices for your own reasons but why a Pullman berth? They look good and all but the inside person has to go over the outside person if you get up at night. V berths if a decent size allow both people to get out of bed without disturbing the other as long as they are a bit flexible. CC with pullman berths forward are going to be a very rare design, I've never seen one.

Re: 40-44' Center Cockpit with Fwd Pullman Berth? (other than Hunter)
Well, we plan to retire soon and we plan to cruise. My wife wants to as well and she likes the roomy aft bedroom that center cockpits provide, I do as well however, I have a sleep disorder that keeps her up all night so I have to sleep in "other locations", I dont really like V births all that much but I do think some floor-plans that offer a bunk similar to the attached picture (Hunter 430) which I think is called a Pullman Berth......

Bene, Jene, etc.
but then you already know of boats that have what you want and I guess you need something other than a mass production boat or something acceptable to an internet forum

The Hunter 450 would be perfect. Each can even have their own head.

The beneteau oceanis 44cc has a massive aft stateroon and a set of pullman bunks forward. for aft cockpit look at SO 43 (DS) which have fully demountable cabin walls to make aft stateroom and forward pullman bunks

OK I understand, makes sense. Good luck in your search and good cruising.

Hunter 420 and 45CCs.
Beneteau 40 and 44 cc's. 40 CC for sure. The 44 CC in the two cabin has centerline fore and aft. The three cabin has a third upper lower cabin that takes up some room in the forward cabin.

Re: 40-44' Center Cockpit with Fwd Pullman Berth? (other than Hunter)
Caliber 47 comes to mind....very spacious forward berth with a pullman....good aft cabin....nice modern design for a 20 YO design....doesn't look like a floating Clorox bottle like many of the " all white" center cockpits out there.
Several on the market....one in Fla very reasonable.

Re: 40-44' Center Cockpit with Fwd Pullman Berth? (other than Hunter)
Look at a Morgan/Marek 454. I almost bought on in SF but the engine was on the small side, the draft 8" and the standing rod rigging probably needed to be replaced. I loved the boat, the fore and aft berths. I didn't mind replacing the rigging but not the engine and the draft was just too long. They do make the 454 with shallower drafts but they were all on the East coast. Good luck!

Re: 40-44' Center Cockpit with Fwd Pullman Berth? (other than Hunter)
might take a look at morgan. They are roomy, havent seen one with a pullman. A roomy comfortable liveaboard ,beamy, fairly slow. Ive seen a bunch in the 80-82 yr. in fl. built in fl. priced reasonable, I would call it a costal type sailboat.

My 2 bits..if your sailing locally with day sails or the odd over nighter the plan is good. If your crossing oceans it's not that great. The galley is weak, you'll need to pump the sink to drain it on one tack and it's not a great galley at sea. You have no good sea bunk in the boat you'll also find the round seating uncomfortable for long term sitting, fine for a meal but no comfortable place to curl up for reading etc. It certainly has your two good berths at anchor but personally the rest of the layout is set up for coastal cruising.
