28' Offshore Boat with 74"+ Headroom?

Been through a lot of lists, but not all touch on headroom.

So far I'm liking the Vanguard 32 with it's 76" headroom, but am wondering if there is a 28' with lots of headroom.

I am 74" tall, and have experienced "roofs" with low overhead for long duration and it bugs the heck out of me.

Watkins have good headroom. Ok depending on what you mean by "offshore"

San Francisco to Hawaii for starters. Then Australia or New Zealand. Possibly circumnavigation.

Deaf Sailor,

Jim suggested to another tall man on CF the other day, to look for a Columbia from the 70's, seems that they had more than usual headroom.

28' AND offshore?

Hmmmm.

Someone said Westsail 28.

I remember visiting a Vancouver 27 and she seemed adequate headroom too.

In our boat I do not have standing height anywhere else than ... the hatch area.

Provided the hatch is open ... ;-)

Good luck!

Ok, here is one that is close,Pacific Sea Craft 34, 6 feet 4 inches and a true blue water boat.
If budget is a issue, Allied Princess at 36 feet.
Off shore is the main issue with 28 feet, as large cockpits and head room in smaller boats come with their own issues.

That was me. Here is where I have found allot of height information on some of the boat of that size.good-old-boats-list Also found out that some of the pilot house models have even more head room. found one that had a cabin height of 6'5" but I don't think it is a boat to be crossing oceans with, at least I wouldn't. It was the Nimble Kodiak. I think I saw that the KONSORT 29 DUO (WESTERLY) had a cabin height of 6'4" too somewhere. I have it worse than you do, I am 78" tall.

Wrong side of your journey for you I suppose, I am told the Swanson 28 has a good deal of headroom. Can't be certain of that, but I guess you'd never find one on your side of the ocean.

Maybe a trip FROM Oz to somewhere else...

Re: 28' Offshore Boat with 74"+ Headroom?

I've done some looking around (by googling terms like "pearson trition headroom" etc) and a boat I really like is the Rawson 30.

The only bummer is they seem rare, and some were kit builds.

Thanks for all the responses so far! Since I'm a few years away from obtaining a boat, wouldn't mind keeping the thread going.
