There are two completely different kinds of Rangers:
1972 Ranger 26 sailboat for sale in Wisconsin
Kent Ranger 26 Sailboat - For Sale
Our club has the first one above, a Gary Mull IOR kind of
boat. I haven't actually taken it out yet, but those who have seem to enjoy its sailing qualities. It has the
passage in the middle of the
boat in the
cabin, so the
mast support is not directly under the
mast, and on ours there has been an attempt by the previous owners to shore up where the mast is pushing the
deck into the
cabin. I don't know if this is a common problem on the boat. The other interesting thing we've discovered is that the 1" deep
keel stub has the cabin liner on top. There are drain holes in the sides of the liner, and we finally discovered that pumping out the
bilge doesn't get the 2 gallons of
water in the space that is lower in the
hull next to the cabin liner where the
hull turns down to the
keel stub.
Boy, I'm not sure that description helps tell you where the
water is.
We got a deal on ours and had to replace some woodwork due to
rot. Don't know how much was due to poor
maintenance versus the fact that there is more than one place for water to collect.
