There may be only a foot difference, Niagara being shorter.

We had an Ericson 38 (1982) and our best friends went with a new 1991 Catalina 38 Mk II, from Stan Miller Yachts (Long Beach Ca).

My friend was always moping the bilge on the C36 with a small sponge (he traded in his beautiful C30 circa 1985, which had no problems).

Then he put a torque wrench on the bolts to the torque that Gerry Miller told him to, and got a crack down the sump line. They pulled the boat and dropped the keel, and found layers of plywood between the outer keel stump and the inner finished part of the bilge (gelcoat there too). That was all dug out, replaced with glass and resin, then all was good.
