1987 Compac 27/2

First Boat... I'm looking at this for my first boat also. But I can't seem to find any reviews or comments. Lots of info on smaller trailer ones.

Can someone weigh in on their experience and thoughts?

Don't know how tall you are. I'm 5'11" on a good day. If I remember right, I couldn't completely stand up by an inch or two. The shallow draft means the boat won't point well.....if that's important to you. I love the look of the boat.

I'm 6'3'' but I'm also looking at a Sabre28 with low head room. If I'm down below I don't plan on standing much. This is our first sailboat and we want easy sailing at first, so pointing high isn't as importand. Thanks!

There's a 27/2 for sale locally to me (maybe the one you're looking at). I'm acquainted with the owner, who was always quite proud of his boat. I was impressed with the quality of build on his boat. There seems to be a cult following for them. I would think as a first boat it would serve you well and be stout and simple, which is what you'd want for a first sailboat.
