Not hard to figure out speed over water, Jim, I have seen paddle wheel speeds in the 9s, I was just being conservative above.

Theoretical hull speed is just that - theoretical.

A flying scot can surf in a good wind its easy ro get ir up on the step wirh a spinaker.
