No, it may not be the after-effect of Russian Standard, Glenlivet or Stella Artois if you think you're seeing elephants on your Arctic cruise, but rather the re-release of the Wooly Mammoth into Arctic Regions by scientists who have the ability to replicate their DNA and produce a clone. The goal could be accomplished in the next several years and would be an experiment to determine if Mammoths became extinct from hunting or climate change. The article follows:

There are some of us on this Forum who are interested in matters of Science especially if they pertain to our past time and how we might be effected in the future. I think it is unfair to label this as thread drift to climate change since it is not the primary focus of this discussion. Why not read the article. You will see that it is clearly about decoding the DNA of this great creature and Science's ability to replicate it through cloning. The experiment is certainly valid and would push the frontiers of Science and give us a better understanding of our physical and biological world. The description of a mariner experiencing a Mammoth to port in Arctic regions may one day be reality. Good luck and good sailing.

Hmmm... let's see now... We live on boats, "global warming" is supposed to be melting the icecaps and putting more water into the oceans which gives us newer places to visit, all the time making places like the PNW warmer and more bearable. So, what's the gripe? Sounds like a win-win to me.

Of course, back in the 70s it was an impending ice age that the looney left was screaming about. NASA says that the temps on Neptune and Mars also are going up but I haven't seen any SUVs in their photos of those places but what do I know.

Y'all enjoy hammering this thread to death. War cycles and a global economic calamity will render climate change moot to most of us before much longer.

Science . . . not politics should determine the facts. We should all remember the Catholic church's stance that the earth was the center of our solar system and Galileo's near death experience for opposing that view.
