North east passage (westbound)

Dear community,

The thought have struck me that the world is crazy and getting home are getting tricky. Just spent some time in Antartica and the peninsula there. Back in Chile now and nothing seem to move for the better.

Cruising in Chile is possible, but tricky. Next stop would therefore be Polynesia. From there it seem tricky indeed.

Thinking of that circumnavigation might get hard. But it struck me! NORTH EAST PASSAGE!!

Anyone know if this is possible for boats not registered in Russia or without Russian pilot.

So! Anyone else have done this? Anyone know anyone? Anyone know where I can get in contact with anyone with information?

I’ve realized I need invitation to cruise Russia. So agent is needed. Anyone know one?

Hmmm... guessing I’m at square 1 - any type
Of information is HIGHLY appreciated!

Fair winds and pleasant nights folks!

In 2016 David Hempleman-Adams and crew became the first recreational sailor to circumnavigate the Arctic Ocean in one season. If you can contact him you might be able to answer some of your questions about the Northern Sea Route (aka Northeast Passage). Perhaps you can contact him through his Twitter account?

I was working on it earlier this year. Insurance is now the problem. The Russians will not grant you a permit without insurance. We have contacted over 90 insurance agents all over the world that represent about 50 underwriters. We have not been able to find anyone that provides insurance for pleasure craft for that route, which means you will not be getting a permit from the Russians.
