Re: Beautiful ice footage

I think I posted this link a few weeks back but its worth posting again. Its James Balog's presentation at TED.
TED Blog | Time-lapse proof of extreme ice loss: James Balog on TED.com

I hope it doesn't stop anyone from going to the movie though because the trailer looks fantastic.

Re: Beautiful ice footage

Andrew,
The photos/videos in this trailer are nothing short of a profound aestethic experience. These scenes of natural beauty echo in the veins of all who appreciate the drama, beauty and rarity of this unique landscape and reverberate in our European ancestral legacy of our forefathers who not only survived but thrived during the last Ice Age in this environment. Thank you for this beautiful submission.

Re: Beautiful ice footage

I was personally a bit disappointed by the TED presentation...
To my way of thinking it does not do justice to the trailer,

and the trailer in turn does not do justice to the movie.

Re: Beautiful ice footage

True, but the TED presentations are limited to about 20 minutes.

Re: Beautiful ice footage

I believe the film has already premiered, to some acclaim, and opens in many US cities starting about now

Re: Beautiful ice footage

I'm constantly being amassed at the lengths humans can and will go to for video coverage. Great stuff and the only way I'll ever want to see that landscape!

Re: Beautiful ice footage

Ice? Got plenty here already. Had to pick bits of it out of my mortar bucket today...thought it was bits of broken glass at first. Boots froze to scaffold in 5 seconds, had to keep moving. If they want to shoot a sequel, PM me for admittance tickets to Micah's Frozen Buildingsite. No penguins though...and I'm not dressing up as one this time, my thinsulate tuxedo is at the cleaners. They could go south at no charge....plenty of ice and cleanshaven genuine penguins there...
