Crew Available: San Diego to Nicaragua

My girlfriend and I would like to catch a ride from the southern California area down to Nicaragua where I can still get a drink in a bar. I am definitely more useful as a cook or teacher for your children than knowing my way around a sailboat but I have done it once before for about two weeks and loved it.

I'll do pretty much anything you ask for a ride to San Juan del Sur!

Good luck--straight shot SD to Nica is not commonly done. These are strange times, however. It's far more likely someone will be going SD to Panama canal--San Juan del Sur is not a popular cruising destination.

^^It's likely that they would not be willing to drop off. They would have to enter Nicaragua, with all the official paperwork and expense that that involves (been there; done that: either adjacent country: Costa Rica or Guatemala are far easier. Guat's a bit of a detour up the Gulf of Fonseca).
Any detour is going to take time: turning aside, checking in, checking out, resting perhaps, waiting for weather. I'm not saying it's impossible for it to happen: I've hitched rides on sailboats all over the place, but the first rule of hitching is that you must be flexible, and enterprising, and willing to take what's available and work with it. that may mean bussing from Panama to Nicaragua, or from Costa Rica, or biding your time in southern Mexico until a boatload of surfers rolls by.

It is highly unlikely authorities would be sympathetic to yachts wanting to stop in an emergency.
