Howdy all, I am looking for one other person (preferably also female, but not mandatory) who is up for a real adventure. I will be taking my 24’ sailboat from
Florida down through the
Caribbean islands to conduct
research on mariculture farms (ocean farming). The journey would start in
Florida from where we’ll cut across to the
Bahamas, then island hop all the way down the chain, visiting as many countries and farms as possible. I have contacts (scientists, farmers, friends) in most of the countries along the way, so the
route will be dependent on where they are located, but we will have plenty of time to explore in between. For the
research I will be conducting interviews as well as collecting
water quality data. Some assistance may be asked of you, but all simple tasks. Mainly what I am seeking is someone comfortable sailing
offshore, and crazy enough to do it with me in a 24’
boat. It will not be comfortable, it will not be luxurious, but we will be seeing and interacting with
parts of these countries most people never get to experience, and
learning lots while doing so, not to mention for a very good cause that has the potential to provide
food security, sustainable
income, and climate resilience throughout the
Caribbean region. For more information on the research (or to donate!) follow this link:
