s. cal to mexico in december, 2018

hi. looking for one or two sailors to help sail my Spaulding 33 to Sayulita, Mexico in December.
the plan is to depart first or second week of dec. from s. cal. port, for isla guadalupe...two or three days exploring isla guadalupe, then straight for cabo san lucas to check in...one or two days in cabo, then final 300 miles to sayulita, just north of puerto vallarta...total duration of trip from 2-3 weeks.
i only need one sailor, but will take a couple if available. i can accommodate up to two persons in my sayulita airbnb for one week after the delivery, OR pay the return airfare for ONE PERSON from puerto vallarta to los angeles.
my wife and i are currently in MDR, but will be sailing to catalina, and other points of interest in s. cal., before my wife returns to mexico, and i begin sailing south.
it is possible to pick up crew at any of the s. cal. ports.
thanks
tony

To be entirely legal, one needs to check into Mexico prior to going to Isla Guadelupe as it is their piece of territory, and their laws to which one is subject.

oh, do you think i forgot about ensenada...hahahhaha!
but if i am sailing straight from catalina to isla guadalupe?
then ensenada IS NOT my first port to check in. cabo is.
do you guys ever sail, or just read rules...the real world is beyond what's written. besides, haven't you learned that the rules were made for the sheeple, since those who make the rules DO NOT follow them.
besides, THE RULES require check in at FIRST PORT OF CALL ENTERED, not sailed past. what if my destination is central america, must i check in at ensenada first
wake up and live people. stop being sheeple.

Here I was about to ask for more details concerning this trip, because it did sound interesting...until your responses to previous inquiries. NO thanks.

Re: s. cal to mexico in december, 2018

Before the discussion left the rails with the disagreeable discussion surrounding 'port of entry' and 'checking-in', sharing more information concerning the outfitting of your boat and your own sailing experience would have been helpful to those who might have been interested in crewing. I have to agree with robwilk37, the condescending tone of your reply to the folks who raised legitimate issues regarding checking into the country was off-putting. If, on the off chance, there may still be sailors out there wiling to help crew your boat south, sharing information about both your boat and your own experience would be useful.

Re: s. cal to mexico in december, 2018

sorry to offend your delicate sensitivities.
an experienced crew would be ASKING THE RIGHT QUESTIONS, to which i have answers.
i'm not looking for welps!!
just one sailor, who would understand my 'tone'.
i don't need your advice, concern, or instruction...
hoping an experienced SAILOR can see the LAUGH in all this communication with couch sailors and sheeple.

Re: s. cal to mexico in december, 2018

Depends on if this is a delivery trip or a cruise.
My wife and I sailed from Alaska to the Panama Canal on the Pacific coast, some day sails, some passages of a few days.
The easiest recommended entry to us was to stop in San Diego where there is an office to do some of the preliminary clearance stuff, then sail to Ensenada and complete clearance, then go wherever we liked.
It took a few extra days, we were not on a schedule, and I would highly recommend it.

Re: s. cal to mexico in december, 2018

I understand bravado and humor. Apparently, if not used carefully they can have the opposite effect you're looking for, and generally not too useful in passage planning, but they can get you through a spell of weather. The one percenters tend to be busy with their own thing, you might consider taking on a whelp or a sheeperson with experience and patience. Very cool old boat though, had her long? Wooden boat skills prevalent in Mexico?
