Planning ahead to sail on the Med (Oct 2025)

I have a dream to spend my 65th birthday sailing on the Med. The hitch is that rentals require 2 adults and I travel alone. I have some American certifications and coastal experience so what I need to find is someone, hopefully with more experience, who will share a rental or rent their boat for a week or two.

There's plenty of time to ponder and plan.

Re: Planning ahead to sail on the Med (Oct 2025)

Hi.
My name is Tony Barker.
I am in exactly the same situation as you, except! I'm sitting in Serrallo, Tarragona Harbour, right now, a short walk (past the superyachts) to Beautiful rental Boats.
My Idea was to get licenced as a yacht master, so as to rent a yacht and sail it off shore to Ibiza via Valencia.
There are several steps to doing that.
My first step is Renting a "33 foot" for Day sailing. You don't sleep on the boat. You can sail 4 0r 8 hours per day Not at all expensive.
Accomodation is ashore in the harbour, lovely restaurants, right in the City.
Not at all Expensive.
Now I just need other peop to crew with me along the journey.
I'm Already a day skipper, licenced to cruse in coastal waters with the ICC.
Best of luck, perhaps we are going in the same direction if you feel you could link in with any part of that please free to explore the possibility.

Tony

Excellent! I have similar licensing from the ASA but haven't been on a boat since I moved away from the lake near my previous home. It would be perfect to have someone who has more recent experience when the time comes.

My only concern with sleeping on land is that it would seriously limit the options. I hope to get to some combination of the Greek islands, Sicily, Istanbul, Tunis, or Malta. Think you might be up for that by next October?

Hi
If you are interested in sailing in Croatia or Greece, I can give you some advice because I have sailed there many times.
Maybe next year I will sail there too.
To charter a yacht in Greece and Croatia you must have an SRC VHF license.
