Re: Mexico/Costa Rica to French Polynesia
ScubaTom,
The first 5 weeks may be a possibility, but just now priority is given to anyone who can stay on until Tahiti.
We have a lot of scuba equipment already, maybe you don't need to buy everything you think you need, just now.

Thanks so much for suggesting so, maybe 10 years earlier I would have. After living & traveling for that amount of time between Mexico and Argentina, I have a pretty good idea what I'm going to need for the next 10 on the other-side of the world. Unfortunately, I'm just not quite prepared yet.
Again, thank you and I am sure you are going to have a great adventure with new friends!

Re: Mexico/Costa Rica to French Polynesia
I considering retiring in the Philippines and was going to fly over there but I think this would be a much more interesting and life enriching experience. I have a lot of boating experience but not sailboat experience which I have wanted to gain for many years. I'm definitely interested.

Re: Mexico/Costa Rica to French Polynesia
This last week things have moved quickly.
For this Six Months to Tahiti voyage the crew is set. We also have multiple potential backup crew if needed.
The well-equipped Morgan 41 Out Island will have a total of four aboard. Casting off in three weeks, 09 Nov 22.

That's pretty early to head out - still cyclone season.
Most doing that run leave MX on March or April. Ck Pacific Puddle Jump web site.

From a newspaper article:
The Fiji Meteorological Service also serves as the Regional Specialised Meteorological Centre (RSMC) and functions as the weather watch office for the region from southern Kiribati to Tuvalu, Fiji, Vanuatu, Wallis and Futuna and New Caledonia. It also provides forecast services for aviators in an area that includes Christmas Island (Line Islands), Tokelau, Samoa, Niue and Tonga.
The peak tropical cyclone season in the RMSC-Nadi region is usually during January and February.
"While the tropical cyclone season is between November and April, occasionally cyclones have formed in the region in October and May and rarely in September and June. Therefore, an out-of-season tropical cyclone activity cannot be totally ruled out," the RSMC said.
