Hi, I'm looking for a crew
member to help sail my '34 sailboat from the mid-Maine coat down to
Florida in early November, and then on to the
Bahamas in December. I could accommodate two people if necessary.
Sailing experience is not required but obviously desirable. Your responsibilities include:
1. Piloting the
boat for 2+ hour shifts day or night - Exact schedule TBD based on
weather, experience, etc., but the standard will be 2 hrs and we'll only be stopping if absolutely necessary except at least one night anchored.
2. General
cleaning inside and out
3. Help me with
maintenance,
repairs, and upgrades
4. Share
cooking duties (I'm also a chef)
5. Being
SAFE as the first mate and getting us and the
boat safely to our destination!
You pay your way to
Maine and I'll cover onboard expenses (i.e. food) and your (cheap) plane ticket home. If it's a pair of people, I'll still cover
food, but just the one flight home.
I have life jackets but they're inexpensive, simple ones without the ability to use a
safety harness. If you're doing a solo shift while I'm sleeping or otherwise occupied below
deck, my life jacket and harness are yours to use. I would recommend
buying yourself an auto
inflatable life jacket with harness clips/rings and a two point harness if you're trying to get experience to go on larger vessels because you'll certainly want such a life jacket in that case, and probably a harness.
About me: 47yo disabled guy, super easy going, tons of sailing, powerboat, and whitewater experience on all types and sizes of craft on oceans, lakes and rivers. I enjoy teaching people and can tailor the trip to any experience level.
Please reply here (or message me) the following information:
First name, age, experience on watercraft, why you want to do this trip, and biggest worry about such a trip.
Thanks! Scott S/V Sisu
