Re: looking for three flat earth theory followers

I think you'll have to search the four corners of the globe to find flat Earthers who will go on this voyage.

Central unintelligent agency? Secondly, the vast majority of conspiracy theorists need no help appearing stupid, they do great on their own.

Let us all remember, flat earthers have nothing to fear, except sphere itself.

Re: looking for three flat earth theory followers

There is an excellent flick made about 1980 ..."The Gods must be Crazy" that I highly recommend everyone go and see or get the video.

The flick is about a coke bottle, that gets thrown out of a Cessna by it's pilot, while flying over the African bush.

The coke bottle lands at the feet of a bushman tribal leader.
He has never seen such a thing before, and has no idea what it is or used for.
The tribe ends up dickering and fighting over this coke bottle causing disharmony amongst the tribe.

The elder bushman decides the coke bottle must be an evil thing and plans to take it the " edge of the world" to throw it off.

The flick then depicts the bushman's trip thru' the bush to get to the edge of the world.
He goes thru' many adventures beyond his normal daily regime, but he eventually arrives at "the edge of the world" and throws the coke bottle into it's chasm.

So you see.....the edge of the world does exist for some people.

I remember that. Good movie. You can read a lot into it, about society, religion, power, interpersonal relationships and cultural differences.

It also proves the saying "Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic."

Yep, great movie and became a bit of a cult film.

One man's edge is another man's beginnings - the movie ends where it starts - with the coke bottle falling. We never got to see if it landed at another's feet in the depths of the chasm.

Sort of proves the earth is round but dunno if that is a flat round or a spherical round. So many questions and so few answers...

Even worse, gravitational forces aren't real either.

To offer up a broader argument, what shape is the universe?

There is a new theory (which I think is wrong but....) that space time is the cause.

That objects further from the (any) earths surface experience time differently than objects close to the surface which causes a straight line to curve towards the earth's surface which has the effect of forcing entities inward.

I’ll direct you to a fellow called Albert Einstein, and a little theory called General Relativity. I know you already know this, but masses don’t “attract” each other. They create distortions in space-time proportional to their mass. Bodies travelling through this impacted space-time region move along this “curved” area.

See… simple ;-).

Ah, so you know where the universe came from? Cool. I think the entire astro-physics community would love you to share this knowledge, because last I heard, where everything came from is still a bit fuzzy.

My dad was big into Einstein. Him and his fellow scientific buddies could huddle around a bottle of scotch and come up with some impressive reasoning as to why things are the way they are. Their convictions and beliefs were absolute !
I used to listen in on some of these chats as a youngster. Most of it went flying over my head though. but clearly some profound thinking was induced by the scotch.

Nonetheless, there is obviously, "something" on the go here, but we just don't know what..

I like to think of it in this way.
Planet earth in the grand scheme of the universe (as we know it), is smaller, than the smallest grain of sand in all the worlds beaches.
On this tiny, minuscule blob of dirt, live us humans. A lot of humans on every corner of the planet. If earth is smaller than a grain of sand, us humans must be the equivalent of microscopic ants.

Yet, we think we know it all. Amazing !
Truth is we don't know squat about much and likely never will. The only thing humans seem to have excelled at is killing each other, usually motivated by reasons that defy belief.

To me, that is the beauty of sailing. Nothing I enjoy more than being out on the ocean at night, with a sky full of twinkling lights to show me the way. Flat earth or round earth matters not a whit to me.
Interestingly, when on land, I never think about the stars, as typically, they can't be seen. It's only at sea, at night, that the sky becomes alive and puts my life into perspective.
