So to help the OP, let's just clarify.

Does Gay apply to:
1 Transvestites?
2 A person that swings both ways?
3 An effeminate, intelligent man, with a sense of humor?
4 Can one be Gay and the other just accepting ?

I hope the OP clarifies for us to put our detail addicted minds to rest.....then maybe we might know of a suitable couple who they should consider? [emoji4]

Best of luck and congrats on your new boat.[/QUOTEWho really gives a **** apart from a fundimentalist Muslim or a Born again Christian..
Not forgeting the agressivly hetro guy who's terrified he might be gay coz he likes all the butt slaps in the locker room.. [emoji3]
He is looking for a COUPLE, that implies, he is not interested in a romance, otherwise he would search only one or just people with no strings attached.

Possible answers,

- he is already in a (gay?) relationship, and a gay couple would not care much about them, no comming out issues.
- he is not interested in a liason, but in two male saylors not bothering him,
- he is a voyeur / looking for orientation and curios what a gay couple live is about.
- he has negative experiences with woman relationships and wants to see the other side...
- he just enjoys PC outrage discussions and launched the thread just for fun...
- the theory of old rich man meet young woman and gay couple safest option to not get jealous.

Boy, that's assuming a lot, monogamy is far from the norm even in straight CIS society.

In any case none of our business, all the speculation is IMO pretty weird.

Let it be, hope they got some some good PMs.

You're thinking so two dimensional.

--That is not the actual case. When we are told by legal authorities that they (any group) have rights that we don't, then they are not being mistreated, but treated with speciality which denotes favoritism. Rights have a source. If we draw from that source without replenishing it, then it begins to deplete. This is what happens when we set aside a certain group of people and treat them special. We are actually taking rights away from some and giving them to others. This leaves the ones having their rights taken away with less rights.

If we treat everyone equal, then all have rights. --

and it is permissible to assume that they won't be offended by such an ad. If someone needs crew and would be more comfortable if that crew were NOT gay, then of course that's also OK, but you have to be careful what you say, because gay people are a minority who have suffered discrimination and exclusion.

--So have many people. My ancestors were Irish. They were treated worse than dogs in this Country when they came here. That did not stop them from becoming successful and eventually joining mainstream society. They did not whine and complain, they just worked hard and smart. --

Some people would call that "political correctness" (something which in its true form I personally abhor) but in this case, it is just elementary good manners. It is not a symmetrical situation, because hetero and homo people do not experience the same degree of acceptance in our society, and those of us in the privileged majority need to show some consideration to those who have not enjoyed the same degree of acceptance.

At least, that's the way my grandmother would have explained the rules of decent, polite society, and it still sounds right to me today. YMMV.

The OP isn't obligated to provide clear information regarding what they are looking for but it sure would clarify a lot and get better answers.

Taken literally without clarification from the OP, it is an ad for a job that includes blatant discrimination.

You mean like.. "Must be non smokers.."
"Must not be consumers of Drugs.."
"Must not indulge in alcohol.."

As for answers.. have had none so far.. just a bunch of people getting their hetro hackles up.
Kinda like the thread about "Single Women Sailing" not so long ago.. loadsa muscle flexing and zero appreciation/contribution.

I don't see "job" mentioned anywhere. The vast majority of "crew wanted" posts are not for paid positions.

And even if it is "blatant discrimination" - so what. It's an international forum, no anti-discrimination laws on the high seas.

Which is not a problem online, up to the jurisdiction(s) involved.

If I advertised for a sexy 19-yo, no experience required, gets my boat when I die, it would be up to the site owner and their mods to decide if they would let it stand.

Ahh, but you didn't specify what sex you were seeking, so no discrimination!!!

Jim

Can I advertise for two young, attractive, bi-sexual nyphomaniacs?

yachting is not about democracy either. on board is a hierarchy, the captain is god. And he is accountable for the ship and the crew. Chain of command, no PC.

Anything he orders is a discrimination of other opinions. So what? He choses his crew based on his thoughts and values and this is absolutely OK.

Re: Looking for gay couple to crew catamaran

In some countries (eg uk, nz) it is legal to discriminate in certain circumstances: with a very small company in terms of number of employees, and/or employment is to be carried out in your private home (eg nannies). Not sure about the US but wouldn’t be surprised...

I’d guess a live aboard boat would count as your home

Re: Looking for gay couple to crew catamaran

And in 90% of the rest of the world it is perfectly legal to advertise for an assistant or any position

"attractive woman 19-22 weighing no more than 43kg with hair reaching her butt" even specifying ethnicity, no anti-discrimination laws at all

Re: Looking for gay couple to crew catamaran

Just thinking.....
In the old days if you were described as being "discriminating", that was actually a good thing!

It meant you had acceptable taste and judgement.

Now, in today's world... it is such a dangerous word, mostly whispered in dark corners, ....unless it is in some kind of reality show context like Americas Next Model where all kinds of personal traits are discriminated under the unforgiving lights of television and really harsh gay judges.

I just wish I knew the proper ways to discriminate these days[emoji17]
