Thanks for posting that link.

Here is a link to a new thread I started about this race in the Our Community forum here, with some photos and the links above and it is open to mentions of any of the CF Members in the race.

Carliane: you are such a champion! My heart soared and my pulse quickened each time I brought up the race, which was daily.
Hope your cruise back went well, assuming you are back on the 'mainland'. I always have a hard time leaving Hawaii!
And I hope you know what a daring soul you are. When one is actually participating in such an adventure it's easy to just get caught up in the 'event', and forget that only a handful of people in the world would actually do such a thing as sail alone across an ocean.
All the best, captain.

Re: Kauai to San Francisco - mid July

All the comments and support I've received have been tremendous. I've posted about some aspects of the trip (such as the things that broke) at the link Paul provides above and happy to answer any questions or comments. I truly learned so much!!! It was an amazing trip that I'm still processing. I also love the cruising community that I met in Kauai. I can't wait to join their ranks for good one of these days

You're so kind. I've been floored by the number of people who followed the race. I wish I had been more communicative while at sea. That was probably one of the hardest things to do! All the best in your boat search. Do let me know what you find.

Hey Don, we twice saw dolphins on the return. Once as we were just leaving Hanalei Bay a few showed up to highlight our departure and then about halfway to SF, we came across a large group of what I think were common short nosed dolphin. Very neat to see them jumping together and swirling around the boat. Never saw any cetaceans on the sail/race over. Maybe because I wasn't paying attention. Did see a lot of pelagic seabirds both ways such as shearwaters and tropicbirds. Caught 3 albacore on the way home about halfway between HI and CA. The second one was released. We were just testing whether it was a fluke or not. Had tuna for nearly every meal over the next two weeks. One of the boats in our return fleet also had a tangle with a sperm whale (he reported seeing 2). That sighting would have been extremely cool...not the interaction though!
