Looking to learn to sail while enjoying some sunshine and meeting new folks! While I don't have experience sailing (besides as passenger), I grew up on Michigan lakes so I've spent time on the
water (power
boats, kayaking, etc.). I've taken some online classes/reading to get some vocab and start getting prepared.
I'm a good cook and have cooked for groups professionally (catering, retreats, Bnbs). I'm a certified yoga and meditation instructor. I'm used to physical jobs, I
lift weights, and I practice strength & endurance yoga. I have experience
provisioning groups, trips, and retreats - am good at planning and acquiring supplies and groceries (and making efficient use, guarding against spoilage, etc.).
Willing to pull my weight with
maintenance, chores, and tasks in exchange for the
learning and my spot on the crew. I'm very handy after 11+ years spent renovating properties in Detroit with my own two hands (I have some skills like amateur/basic
electrical, refinishing woodwork, strip and
paint, patching, deep
cleaning, basic
plumbing, etc.).
Trustworthy, reliable, prompt, eager to learn, focused, will take note and follow directions. Mature, level headed, practical - but also friendly and good with people.
I don't get seasick, have lived on a
boat short term a few times (loved it), am used to traveling super light (one small backpack), have traveled all over the world (Iceland,
Cuba, Jordan,
Thailand are some of my highlights). I can meet the valid-passport and covid testing requirements, and be there by the time you want me on board once we agree.
Love nature, unspoiled areas best. Bonfires! Saunas (it's cold in Michigan right now!) and hot springs are two of my favorite things. I also love reading, swimming, hiking, great conversation. I don't use any drugs (not even caffeine normally), and drink very lightly.
I also have tech, social media, basic photo/video taking skills, web design, copywriting, and
marketing experience if you're looking for that. I've run my own business in the hospitality industry for years (vacation rentals, rentals, bnbs), so I'm good at customer
service roles.
Currently in
Miami area, can travel to Keys, Carib,
Grenada, etc. and other points south to meet you. Looking for a few to several weeks, longer for the right fit (not necessary). Flexible on the location(s), timeline, willing to go with the flow. Experienced working on a team and living in close quarters with others, communication skills, direct communication.
