Seems like the that junk organisation (translated that for you) and publication you mentioned somewhere, that costs 5#/month would be the best place to cast you net for interested fish. Takes money to make money and all that.

Alternately, you could play up the pirate character and market it all to a younger audience. Perhaps a few children's books for cross marketing. Kids love pirates. Might want to 86 the fag (there I did it again) when filming for the kiddos though. Consider investing in a parrot.

Know why pirates always seem grumpy?

Because they arrrrrrrrrr

Yea, already thought about paying for a couple months JRA to promote myself. But no, I have integrity, I won't be playing any parts - I will be exactly the same a$$hole that I have always been, when I'm on YT. But I'm sure there are at least a few people that won't mind. There's a market for everything nowadays

Hmmmm. Seems like integrity would dictate that you at least pay for a whole year and join the organisation to be a contributing member of the association as well as self promotion. But that's just me. Maybe you should sleep on the pirate idea...

The OP is 100% welcome to return and claim his thread and have my apologies. At present it is abandoned and open to claims.

My integrity owes nothing to those opinionated armchair captains, and 5 is at least a day's worth of weed - in "these trying times" it's important to have priorities. (You try hand sewing for 11 hours sober)

If they're interested they will subscribe, and it should reach a point where interest is generated by itself, especially from JRA people looking for relevant content.
Although I probably won't be having any content that will specifically relevant to them just yet. I don't have a camera, just the phone. So my current plan is to do some sewing tutorials, followed by fabric design and construction of specific items - mast boots, sail covers etc. I also want to do some analysis videos of some of the Marine Accident Investigation Reports I have read. I really enjoy them, and know a few good ones, but I realise that a 100+ page report is too much for most people. The latter makes good use of my writing experience, as it will take some effort to condense it down to an enjoyable format.

I've started writing a script for one already.

Why? Seems to be on a separate track Rather than off the rails

As an old fogey it’s amazed me watching the growth of ‘YouTube ‘ channels as a source of income. It took me a longtime to get past - ‘why are people prepared to pay to watch strangers holiday videos when they are available free’. I eventually made the connection that those I enjoyed watching wee made with a huge amount of effort and as I enjoyed the entertainment it was reasonable to pay something for it. However I find that in the same way TV series start to tire by season 3 - YouTube favourites start to tire after a bit.
The cynic in me also notes that the ‘appeal’ in manner and look of the ‘actors’ is also as important as the content (pretty woman as a film would not have worked as well with Miranda playing the lead role).

Re: Hey skipper, wanna sail?

I guess years of singlehandling my boat disqualifies me from this thread as to what oceans or other bodies of water can be crossed with just a single person onboard.....sigh...another job opportunity lost...
