Halifax, NS south to Caribbean
Good day all
Looking for a capable crew member or a couple to share watches on a trip from Halifax to Antigua. With a potential stop in Bermuda
Departure would be mid to late October
Vessel is a 2012 lagoon 400 catamaran. Well set up and maintained.
We are a couple, experienced at sailing (crossed the Caribbean Sea and up the east coast to Halifax in the last year)
About you:
Canadian citizen - boat is Canadian registered and we are Canadian. With all the covid stuff I want to keep it consistent
Ideally from within the Atlantic bubble region to limit the need for isolation.
Non smoking. No drugs on board. The anchor light is the drinking light - only drink when done the passage
Preferably with some experience, but we would train the right person as needed.
We would take care of all boat expenses and food costs for the trip. You would take care of your travel to/from the boat

Re: Halifax, NS south to Caribbean
Hello Knot Safety,
I am very interested. I have my own boat, Catalina 350 which I have been sailing on the Chesapeake Bay for 3 years. She is on the hard now and I am looking to add some miles and stay on the water. I do not have off shore experience but plenty of mile under the keel. No time constraints. Interested in how long a passage you think this might be. Covid free obviously but hopefully this who farce will be long gone by then!! Please let me know your thoughts. Thanks Ed

The chances are close to zero that the border will be re-open by that time. Mid to late Oct is only a few weeks from now and the border is officially closed until at least Oct. 21.
Unofficially my money is some time in the new year, especially since the second wave has started in Canada.

Re: Halifax, NS south to Caribbean
So does that mean you will not be making the trip or are you hoping for fellow Canadians to join the team?
Thanks
Ed

Hello Ed
We will likely be leaving in a few weeks. Are you Canadian? If not, it is unlikely you would be able to get here for departure and we cannot go to the US

Safe trip. No, I am not Canadian. I had no idea you all were shut down.

Re: Halifax, NS south to Caribbean
We are back on our own boat in the Chesapeake, prepping to go south as well, so can't be of any assistance to you. But wishing you safe voyage and fair winds

If you do it in November, I'll join you on my vessel. Two boats sailing South together is always better than one

Re: Halifax, NS south to Caribbean
All depends what the weather forecast is. If there is not a window in late October we will leave in November

Re: Halifax, NS south to Caribbean
Hey there, I was wondering if you are still looking for someone to join you on your trip? I am Canadian but currently not in the Halifax/maritime bubble but could get there and isolate as I have family there. If you are still looking for somebody for your journey I’d be very interested, just shoot me a reply and we could talk some more!
Cheers,
Derek

Thanks for the interest Derek. We are close to finalizing our crew. Hope to have it done today and will then take the add down

Anyone can fly into Canada...just need to quarantine on arrival.
