Boston to Fort Lauderdale

Hello,

Looking for a little adventure and/or some sailing experience?

I am looking for one to two crew to help me sail/motor from Boston to Fort Lauderdale... Leaving Boston the first week of October!

The boat is a newish 2019 Fountain Pajot Saona, 47 ft, with most of the creature comforts. We'll be sailing on the outside.

I am not looking for professional crew as I can not pay, but food on board will be covered.

More experience the better; but no experience and a willingness to learn will help me enough.

Not in a super hurry, and am somewhat flexible with schedule. The goal is to make South Florida by November. Hope to make one to two day passages, with time ashore to enjoy. Will be in Annapolis for a week to 10 days to get some warranty work done. The boat can still be the "hotel/condo."

I only ask: no smoking on the boat and no illegal drugs onboard at anytime. I enjoy a drink in port, but abstain at sea. I ask the same of you.

Need to be a USA citizen or on a valid visa.

I am 55 yrs old male, retired, former US Navy... with no political judgements...

Come for all, or just a part of it....

PM me if interested!

James

Have a good trip! Please contact me if circumstances change.

To anyone viewing, I'm interested in trips originating from Boston and South as far as Annapolis or slightly further south.

Too late. I just did part of this trip last fall.

Lots of bored sailors I guess, this one filled fast.

Re: Boston to Fort Lauderdale

So I was the lucky sailor who cruised with Jim and Josie on board S/V Fair Winds from Boston to Pompano Beach. I can't say enough about their kind hospitality as well as Captain Jim's fine seamanship. His Navy and airline experience certainly gave him a solid navigation basis. My offshore passage experience was minimal, and I learned so much from Jim. He and I rotated on 4-hour watches during a few 3 and 4 day legs. As Captain, he gave clear instructions and set expectations well. I always felt trusted, yet appropriately backed up.

The 47' FP Saona is a beautiful catamaran, and this one is just a year old. Jim's diligent attention to detail regarding upgrades and maintenance make it an even better ship.

We had some multi-day delays while waiting out some storm activity, and we filled many idle hours with fun Mexican Train domino games. At some point I think they finally just let me win. Once.

Josie is a fantastic cook and a capable "admiral".

I would not hesitate to cruise on Fair Winds again should the opportunity arise, and I heartily recommend Jim and Josie as responsible and competent boat owners.

Kind words RoloC!

Likewise, I highly recommend RoloC as a capable crew member! His assistance enabled us to continue the voyage in a timely manner and allowed me to actually get some rest. He earned my full trust very early on!

His easy going ways made for many enjoyable conversations that added to the fun of the trip! And... truth be known, we both wisely let the Admiral win the Dominoes!

How about Deale, Maryland to Charleston, South Carolina in early January?
