Re: Be Careful Out There

Seems like I read in one of the Pardey's books that they did a delivery to the Gulf Coast to pick up some extra cash and found out after arrival that the boat had drugs on board.

Re: Be Careful Out There

Is it just me are are other Aussies sick and tired of this continual sort of behavior.

"One kilogram of cocaine sells for $26,000 in America or $240,000 in Australia due to the higher street price."

It does not seem to matter what the product is or it's price point we are ripped off compared to prices in other parts of the world.

"Wellll...to cut to the chase...remove the profit, remove the 'problem'..."

Have to agree nothing else has worked anywhere in the world. Big headline but it is literally only "One drop in a big Ocean"that has been stopped.

Power players, moving their wealth around the board, via the, "War on Drugs." So, who's bidding on a slightly used free and clear vessel.[emoji848][emoji848][emoji848] I'ld have the drug sniffing dogs swab the decks and below.!!!! [emoji23][emoji23][emoji23][emoji23]

I'd phrase it as more like the law responds to criminals trying to evade jurisdiction. Think British East India company or Colombian cartels. Take advantage of jurisdiction and abuse respect for limits and the limits get shifted.

I wonder if this is listed on the "income while cruising" topic?

The vessel was intercepted 370km off shore. 370km is 199.78NM. They were just 22m in the 200NM EEZ (yeah right). Jurisdiction starts/ends there.

The Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) is an area beyond and adjacent to the territorial sea. The outer limit of the exclusive economic zone cannot exceed 200M from the baseline from which the breadth of the territorial sea is measured. In the EEZ, Australia has sovereign rights for the purpose of exploring and exploiting, conserving and managing all natural resources of the waters superjacent to the seabed and of the seabed and its subsoil together with other activities such as the production of energy from water, currents and wind. Jurisdiction also extends to the establishment and use of artificial islands, installations and structures, marine scientific research, the protection and preservation of the marine environment, and other rights and duties.
If the vessel was not Australian flagged they could have outrun them. Imagine 22m in the opposite direction and the crew would have been able to show them the finger

A good lawyer could get them off if he can prove that the vessel was intercepted in international waters out of the 200NM EEZ and was not Australian flagged. Even worse, legally the intercepting vessel might have committed an act of piracy if acting outside its jurisdiction.

But I guess all of that is not relevant as they were caught red-handed with 1.4t of fine white powder ...

Re: Be Careful Out There

OK Elakha was New Zealand flagged with no Australian citizen on board. Intercepting it outside the Australian EEZ would have caused some (minor) legislative headaches. Still .22NM (not m - sorry for that) is not much

I'm glad this stuff did not hit our streets ...

Which will, possibly, find it's way to the streets, all the same.

The drug war is a joke, the big players pay for protection and give up the little guys like these folks. So the politicians can get their headlines.

Global Warming, Drug War, Immigration and War are games of the Elites.

There is no left or right, just Elites and the rest of us.

Baahahaha,, back to your regular programming.

Exactly. I mean whats actually happening here?

We have managed to restrict supply to the point where it now costs an Aussie coke head 10 times more than one in the US. So what? All we do is push people into the far cheaper meth and thats a far worse problem

All that profit in the hands of criminals when it could be in our health system picking up the health tab....

Dumb
