any recently-licensed Captains want to sail?

Sailboat Delivery Florida to Puerto Rico. Good trip to earn miles and offshore experience. Want someone that knows colregs, lights and sounds. Rotating watches. Some pay involved, return travel to Ft. Lauderdale covered. Leaving next week after weather passes. Private Message for more info. Cheers.

Re: any recently-licensed Captains want to sail?

Hi Brian,

I noticed your post and I am very interested in this trip from Florida to Puerto Rico.

Although I don't have my Captains License yet I do have recent offshore sailing from the BVI to the Turks and Caicos. In addition to several recent charters and a week long ASA 105 course that included overnight sailing.

I have a solid understanding of colregs, lights and sounds and just passed the ASA 105 exam which includes these.

* not looking for compensation.
* don't smoke or do drugs
* don't drink on passage
* hold a valid US Passpor
* don't have a criminal record
* looking to gain sea miles with a safe crew and vessel

I am a 48 year old engineer that has been boating since my youth but I just started sailing during the last four years. As an avid traveler I am looking for ways to gain more seatime since I plan on buying a Catamaran in 3 years once my last child goes to college.

Over the past couple years I have spent several weeks chartering sailing monohulls and catamarans in the San Juan Islands, Gulf Islands, and the USVI/BVI islands.

My schedule is opens up after Aug 10.

If you would like to set up a time for a video call to see if our interests align please let me know.

Thank you for your consideration,
Patrick

Why do you have two usernames posting for the same crew wanted?

You are Winston as well correct?

Re: any recently-licensed Captains want to sail?

Winston is trusted 1st mate who typically vets crew before sending them to me.
As a professional delivery captain, I'm looking for serious people that want to learn more, improve their skills and earn a few bucks while doing so -- helping those with potential advance in what might become their trade. Sadly, 98% of the responses I receive here are from folks who want to relive their glory days, have a lackadaisical approach wanting a relaxed 'fun trip' with bars and snorkeling and fishing, or want to make the trip on their terms and demand concessions to accommodate them. Almost all back out when they understand they'll be underway 24/7 and that's it's not a vacation. Unfortunately for them, completing the mission in a timely and economical fashion for the customer is the priority. I don't ask people for "contributions" or "shared expenses" so I expect focused crew that don't push back at every polite request I make that is actually an order. Frankly, I don't remember ever asking a candidate from CF to join on a trip.

Re: any recently-licensed Captains want to sail?

I'm.very interested. Done 3 deliveries across three lakes. Georgian bay Huron and Lake Superior longest was 2 weeks 24/7 underway. Have bare boat certification. Started costal captain but had to stop in 2008. Boated since 16, race keel boats 22 year competitively. Self studied weather and storm tactics.

Close to retiring now boat sold house sold almost free from the matrix. Always dreamed of the Med trip
