Above Average Student

Hello,

Thank you for taking the time to review my post, and good hunting with your search.
I am Cy Drollinger and am looking to learn the salty life, full emersion. You would be looking for a blank canvas to get your adventure further along. I have a an above average intelligence, a strong back, and the ability to innovate. Educated and a practitioner as an EE. I would entertain a few short trips but would prefer a vessel going somewhere.

Cy Drollinger

Start by sailing for a season with a race crew at a local YC. 36-45 foot racer will teach you a lot.

CYTaylor I think most people reading this post have not offered more advice because they're worried about you getting your big head in the companion way entrance! The thread title is hilarious, one thing the sea has taught all of us is to eat some humble pie. Being above average you will probably be fine, you will have flat seas, steady winds, dock like your boats on rails and nothing will ever break on you.
Cheers

Re: Above Average Student

So, TMI. I'm an affable chap, and would like to learn to sail aboard your boat. I am a quick study and could be useful sooner rather than later. If you are setting sail anytime soon and need a hand, I have two.

Re: Above Average Student

Hey Cy if you read my post I agreed with Nicholson 58!

Just chill a bit and make sure your written statements are what you really want to say because they last forever.

I am in a position to take someone on for a week or two.
Don't know where you are but I am in Antigua and headed to some of the French Islands probably after next week.
If you have intrest send me a private message and we can have a chat on WhatsApp.

If not, good luck in finding your dream. Checking around your local sailing /yacht clubs to do some racing is still a great way to start. You are only out for a few hours and you will learn a lot. What you will learn quickly is if this is something you really want to do.
The ocean can be ethereal, beautiful and peaceful then there are times you will think that you are in the depths of hell.
The secret is to have training and be well prepared. Sometimes baby steps are better than jumping head first.
Ciao

Re: Above Average Student

The worrying thing is that 50% of the population is below average.

Good luck on getting aboard a boat.
There is lots to learn and it takes time.

Stay safe,

Yes, the art of sales, starts with an s and sounds like sails, but sales experience is not the reason I posted. Okay, my pitch was dumb, I get it, DUMB. Thank you salesmen!

Now, from posting this dumb post inside this here forum, I can sum the total knowledge as join a yacht club.
