I'm hitchhiking boats and trucks back home from Papua to Switzerland. And I got the sailing flue.
But after having seen the last yachts leaving Bali (without me...) To Africa. I want to try the alternative: Puket- India (Or to europe).
So I would appreciate if someone could tell me:
When is the saison?
Are there any boats going this way between October and December?
Generally yachts leave Phuket and Langkawi heading west, starting in January with the last ones leaving in March. But piracy in the Indian Ocean has changed things a lot here and not so many are going across the northern Indian Ocean as in the past. I hear more talk of heading to South Africa at the moment, but next month the boats that left Darwin in the middle of the year will start arriving and there will be more discussions of where to go next.
Location: New Zealand originally, but now Malaysia & Thailand
Boat: Kendall 32, Daemon

Re: When to Leave Phuket ?
Hard to say at the moment. With the piracydanger making the passage to the Med via the Red Sea so dangerous, there is a lot of talk about shipping yachts and going the South Africaroute. It is all too much of a recent situation to make much of a call on the numbers going from each port, though agree with Nateetong that there is a lot of SA discussion and planning here in Langkawi as well.
