Hello I lived in Dubai for many years, now live in Thailand. Further I had my 40’ 14 Ton 35 year old boat shipped out from the UK..Delivered to
Singapore
1. There was never a big interest in Sail in the Gulf.
2. Malaysia / Thailand has become a stop…full stop, for a lot of boats. 5
marinas in Phuket all full, Krabi, Langkowie, must be over 50/60 boats for sale.
3. Seychelles a few ex-rentals every season.
4. Greece /
Turkey, just now with the “Season” over many owners are putting their boats on the market.
In the
shipping world, there is a convoy of vessels
They move the JCB’s, Cranes, Fire Engines, and 1,000’s of new cars around the world.
The move is all about height, if my old
head servers me right its something like 3650cm on the
trailer to be driven thru the loading door.
The Shipping lines have extra low profile
trailer that they love to hire,(at a cost) your
mast will go on it too. (Extra)
You need to get a set of Acro type mounting frames to prop you boat on trailer
Cost; The Port of embarkation: kiss goodbye to $3/4K, the shipping $10-20K depends on loads of stuff, length of
passage, length / weight of your boat…now the biggie you must, repeat MUST get this one right, the port of dis-embarkation cost ! no one knows !!. But this is where you must find a good agent, there are one or two in the Sharjar industrial area along Maliha Road.
I brought hovercraft to Dubai in a container, no problem cost $1750.. Other imports have been weeks in
customs and cost !
In your case I would estimate as the
Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 29.2 as it is only 27’ and with a modest 4’ draft I would budget £7-9k. Find a good one in the med £37K
BUT !
