This can be a fantastic anchorage. Interesting place, at low tide the water level can be about a metre higher than the sea outside. You need a fast dinghy to negotiate the entry channel at this time.

You need nerve of steel to negotiate that channel if water levels have not exactly equalised.

Is there still a pontoon used by day tripper boats near the entry? Are the guys on the pontoon still feeding the sharks at dusk?

Sure! What else do you do with the left over day trippers when all the boats have left?

Actually, we have had some fun evenings with those guys.. Show up in the dink with a couple of six pacs and they are your new best friends! After a few weeks out there, some new, non-tourist faces are kinda welcome. And they have filled tanks for us too!

Did you snorkel? I'm wondering how Hardy faired in Debbie........Bait reef stepping stones that used to be my favourite snorkel spot were totally trashed.

Have been in Hardy twice this cruising season and it has fared remarkably well given the ferocity of Debbie. The coral is very healthy and increasing. Saw more clownfish this year than previous years all in about 1.5m of water.

Hardy is still good. True, the stepping stones at bait reef are trashed, but in towards the centre of the reef is still excellent.

Amazing how many of you lucky cruisers have experienced this area. Absolutely jealous. I only have to sail about 24k KM. Lets see. 24k KM x 6 knots ????
