Thanks - some more good information coming out.

So, now for the quantitative question as opposed to the media hype - does anyone know how many sailing vessels made it through vs those that got hijacked.

You are getting advice direct from "the horses mouth"

Ok perhaps too many colloquialisms for an international audience, but it seem someone who has recently sailed the area in question should be listened to very carefully.

Agreed - and I've been across Mark's recent postings on the subject, as well as his fantastic pictures

I'm trying to do a calculated risk assessment. If one person gets killed on our roads, should that mean that nobody should drive ?

It's interesting that for a many 1000's of mile journey, the focus has ended up on a load of gun wielding loonies on the last leg. Is the rest of the trip *that* easy ??
