Arrow Total solar eclipse in South Pacific July 2nd

Hi all, thinking of sailing a 46' monohull down to the South Pacific for the July 2nd solar eclipse. Currently berthed in Seattle area, trying to get a sense of the time required and whether it's best to head to Galapagos instead of hugging the SA coast. I've done parts of the SF->Australia trade winds route but haven't done the South American coastline below Panama/Colombia at all.

Here is the path of the eclipse:

Anyone else planning to go? Anyone else done West coast US to Chile?

No advice but will tell you that watching a total eclipse offshore, if youíre in the path of totality, is a near religious experience.

Agreed. It was a near-religious experience in 2017, when we drove up to Idaho and saw it in clear blue skies. I tend to joke that it was as profound an experience as the birth of my two kids, but it's not that much of a joke. Even 99.9% of the eclipse doesn't compare to totality, it's like: almost getting a hole in one in golf, vs. getting a hole in one. Or something something orgasms something something.
